Blackmagic declares Pocket Cinema Camera 6K

Blackmagic declares Pocket Cinema Camera 6K. Blackmagic Design has revealed its latest compact cinematographic camera, the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K. It looks pretty similar to last year’s 4 K camera, which means it looks like a Minolta SLR from 1993, but it has a bigger sensor — it shoots in Super 35 format (similar to APS-C) with a resolution of 6144 x 3456.

Aside from resolution, the change to Super 35 will enable much better low-light performance and field depth control. The 6 K camera also utilizes Canon’s EF lens mount as opposed to the 4 K’s Micro Four Thirds, and Blackmagic claims 13 dynamic range stops with 400 and 25,600 dual indigenous ISO.

The Pocket Cinema Camera 6 K has plenty of connectivity: mini XLR, full-size HDMI, USB-C, DC power, microphone input, and headphone output. The camera is operated mainly on the same5-inch touchscreen as the 4 K model. With 6144x 3456 16:9, 60 fps with 6144x 2560 2.4:1, or 120 fps with 2.8 K 2868x 1512 17:9, it can shoot up to 50 fps.
