Imports of mobile phones increased by 35%: the Ministry of Commerce. Imports of mobile phones and dry fruits have grown by 35 percent and 12.66 percent respectively in the first half of the current year. While tea imports decreased by 31% and pulses by 22.37%.

Ministry of Commerce statistics reveals that mobile phone imports amounted to $260.90 million from July to September. Additionally, the exports peaked at $190.92 million in the same period as the previous year. Tea imports dropped by 31 percent, with a total of $100.22 million in the first quarter of the operating year.

In addition, imports of cream and infant milk were reduced by 14.88%, palm oil by 25.38%, sugar by 18.16%, and construction and mining machinery decreased by 60.68%.

Over the first three months of the year, mobile phones worth $260.90 million were imported. However, there was a decline of 22, 31, 15, and 25.38 percent respectively for spices, coffee, baby formula, and palm oil.
