PS5 Games Coming in Hot in Q4 of 2023 and Beyond

We have a healthy, bulbous bunch of sequels, new games, and remakes ready to provide a visual as well as emotional treat to us as 2023 draws to a close. Sea of Stars

A title that pays ode to the original Final Fantasy game. With 2-inch sprites and 16-bit characters, Sea of Stars presents a modern take on retro adventures game. It takes heavy inspiration from the OG PlayStation 1 games, working with RPG mechanics and beautifully crafted worlds side by side. Sea of Stars goes quite far in its inspiration from the classics, even making its combat turn-based to present a unique, retro take on the fights you’d encounter on various quests. The game is being produced by Sabotage Studio and is slated for release in late August.

Baldur’s Gate 3

BG3’s presence was a shocking surprise this year at February 2023’s State of Play but one that was welcomed with open arms by fans. It’s a true D&D-style RPG that will be coming to the PS5 after months of speculation that it’ll only be released on PC. The PC version has been out, swimming in early access for quite some time now but this year will see it as a full-fledged title ready to be downloaded to console and computer. Players will get to choose from hundreds of customizations and embark on adventures with their mates either online, or, if you own the PS5 version, as a split-screen duo.

The Crew Motorfest

The Crew games have been notorious for introducing racing with a welcome twist in mechanics and vehicles; with the latter being filled up with cars, bikes, boats, and even jets! Motorfest is the latest installation of this gas-guzzling title where players will be introduced to an open-world arcade, exclusive to the PS5. You could have a go at the game playing solo or invite a friend over into your world to race with them together and take in the gorgeous sights of the island of O’ahu in Hawaii.

Mortal Kombat 1

A complete overhaul and refresh of one of the most beloved fighting games of our time. Mortal Kombat 1 is set after the events of Mortal Kombat 11, which, spoiler alert, saw our favourite warring nations get wiped out chronologically and had Liu Kang take his role as the one true god of the universe. What did he do with it? Make an entirely new world of course! One with lush green fields, a good economy, friendships, flowers, and the impending sense of everything going to waste in a spectacular, bloody fashion very soon. Cue the voiceover man saying “Fatality!”

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

Our favourite merc with a timer on his head, V, returns to Night City as a matter of national security befalls his neon-crested shoulders. Granted this isn’t an entire game but rather an expansion of an existing one but we went ahead and included it anyway given how incredibly expansive it’s going to be.

The synopsis of the story is that the ship carrying the President of the NUSA has crash-landed in the worst imaginable place known to the residents of NC; Dogtown. V must go into this hell zone and fish out the president all while defending himself from an onslaught of new enemies. Lots of new weapons, cars, and augments are set to be released along with a new character voiced by Idris Elba.
