PTA to bring a mobile registration USSD system – It is now possible to register mobile phones without internet as well. In a big leap forward, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has decided to bring the mobile phone registration system Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD). The USSD is a global communication technology system for mobile (GSM) that is used to send text between a mobile phone and a network application program.

You will be able to register your mobile phones via SMS with the USSD system. In order to facilitate the system, PTA and mobile operators decided to bring the system.

Sources of PTA said the USSD system would be implemented within a month or two. With the help of Customs and PTA, Pakistan’s government had earlier launched the online registration system. As of February 15, the online registration system has become operational. Passengers arriving in Pakistan no longer have to suffer because they can register their phones online in long queues at the airport.

In order to register their mobile phones online, passengers are required to enter details of their travel documents, passport, and travel history.

Similarly, one free phone may also be registered online for passengers to bring to Pakistan. Meanwhile, airports have winded up the customs counters created for mobile phone registration. The government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had issued a policy to bring mobile phones to Overseas Pakistanis.

Overseas Pakistanis are permitted to bring five mobile phones in a year, according to the policy. Only one mobile duty-free is allowed. Within 15 days, they would need to get them registered.
