Originally due to hit the U.S. market in April, the highly anticipated device from the top smartphone maker in the world was delayed by screen defects detected in samples. The phone will cost South Korean buyers about 2.4 million won ($1,980), the source from one of the major mobile carriers in the country told Reuters, asking for anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter. No further details were given by the source. Samsung declined Wednesday to comment.

As part of its effort to showcase innovation in the saturated smartphone market, Samsung has promised to begin a new age of foldable. In July, the company announced it would be ready to sell the Galaxy Fold in September after making changes including reinforcing hinges, which early reviewers found to be problematic.

The delays cost the South Korean tech giant sales that in the slow summer season could have provided a decent bump in revenue. Last month, Chinese rival Huawei Technologies Co delayed the planned launch of its own first foldable phone in September, its second postponement this year as it fights a U.S. trade blacklist that threatens tech giant access to critical U.S. technologies such as Google’s Android.
