Facebook and Instagram are down and users are logging out

Facebook and Instagram are down and users are logging out. Social media users around the world were frustrated as popular Meta-owned services such as Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and others faced widespread disruptions, especially in India. Users reported getting unexpectedly locked out of their accounts and having trouble accessing the sites.

Many users are also experiencing troubles with the Meta-owned instant messaging program WhatsApp.

Outages are increasing on the DownDetector.com website. Social media users took to Elon Musk’s microblogging site X to report the outage. “Facebook is down, so I guess I’ll come hang out with my Twitter friends. “How are we doing this Tuesday, friends!?” a person asked on X.

Users across all Meta-owned apps are having difficulty resetting their passwords and using two-factor authentication to log in.

This is the largest outage of 2024 so far, with major social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp feeling the effects all around the world.

One Downdetector user reports, “Messenger and Facebook locked me out a few minutes ago. I successfully relogged, however, it login me out after a single second. Now I can’t log in. There were just 40 reports when I reported the problem, but there are now over 5000, indicating that Facebook is having problems.

The main corporation, Meta, runs Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, and Messenger. They all appear to be experiencing the same issues.

Meta has not given a timetable for when full services will resume. Twitter is operational, but no tweet on the subject has been posted on their official account. There is currently no update available on Meta.com.
