How to Share Original Photos and Videos on WhatsApp

How to Share Original Photos and Videos on WhatsApp? WhatsApp has added a new feature that allows iPhone users to send photographs and videos at their original quality over the messaging network. Here’s how it works and what you can do with it.

WhatsApp users could previously only send media in high resolution, or “HD quality.” While this is a welcome improvement, it still entails compression. Fortunately, a new feature circumvents this.

How to Share Original Photos and Videos on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp’s most recent innovation eliminates compression by allowing photographs and videos to be shared as files, maintaining their original quality. WhatsApp claims the new feature will be available “in the coming weeks,” so you may not see it right away, depending on where you are. Here’s how to put it to use.

Send original photos in WhatsApp
  1. Open an existing WhatsApp chat or create a new one.
  2. To the left of the text input field, tap the plus icon.
  3. Select Document Select either a photo or a video.
  4. Select the media to transmit, then confirm by tapping the blue arrow.

Note: Keep in mind that the feature has a 2GB file size limit.

When the files are sent, no previews of the media are displayed in the chat window, but the recipient can view them by tapping the files. WhatsApp has also been testing the same feature for Android, however, there is no word on when it will be ready.

How to send HD-quality videos or photos on WhatsApp?

In August 2023, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of WhatsApp’s parent company Meta, announced the functionality. Many users have already received the HD toggle in their apps, but the official rollout plan calls for HD photos to be available in the next weeks, followed by HD video later.

Send hd photos in WhatsApp

There’s not much more to sending HD-quality media than you may think, so here’s how to enable it:

  1. Open WhatsApp, select a topic, and then either snap a photo or video with your camera or select one or more pieces of media from the file picker.
  2. When you enter the editing mode, you’ll notice a new HD symbol at the top of the screen. Tap it to activate it.
  3. You will then be able to select whether to deliver your media in Standard or High quality. The setting will be applied to all media (whether images, videos, or a combination of the two). You also get a quick look at the resolution specifications for each setting, as well as a video megabyte count.
  4. Then press the Done and Send buttons. In threads, HD media is indicated by a little HD logo in the lower right corner of the image.

In most cases, standard quality stills have an overall resolution of less than 3MP, but HD quality can have an overall resolution of up to 18MP. If you take shots with the normal settings, you’re probably obtaining 12MP images that are sharp enough to email at full resolution and in high-quality mode. From 480p to 720p, video quality improves noticeably.
