How to View UK Bank Account Balance in Apple Wallet? With the introduction of iOS 17.1, iPhone users in the United Kingdom may now access the account balances of their bank cards and credit cards directly within Apple’s Wallet app. Continue reading to find out how it works.

For a long time, Apple’s Wallet app on iPhone has been able to display Apple Pay transactions made with your bank and credit cards, but if you live in the United Kingdom, a new integration in iOS 17.1 allows you to view your current account balance from your bank, as well as a history of your deposits and payments. If you have a credit card, you may also see how much credit you have left.

Your bank must support Apple’s Open Banking API in order to obtain the additional account information. Banks that are now on board include Barclays, Monzo, Starling, HSBC, Lloyds, and RBS, with more likely to join now that iOS 17.1 is available to the public.

The steps below demonstrate how to safely authorise integration using the Wallet app. It’s a straightforward process, and Apple will automatically take you to your bank’s app to verify the connection.

  1. On your iPhone, launch the Wallet app.
  2. Tap a card from a participating bank.
  3. Get Started is located under “See Balances and Full Transaction History for This Account.”
  4. Continue to link your account to Wallet.
  5. Check the account details you’re about to provide Wallet access to, then hit Continue.
  6. Enter your iPhone’s passcode or use Face ID in your bank app to enable Wallet access to the relevant account details.

Following these steps will return you to the Wallet app, where you will now see your account’s available balance beneath the bank card, as well as your transaction history. If it’s a credit card, you’ll also see the available balance, and a tap on the balance will disclose your credit limit.

Apple Wallet also saves transaction records for linked accounts on an annual basis. You can find them in Settings -> Wallet & Apple Pay for each account. Tap the connected account under “Connections,” then the card under “Accounts,” and finally Account Activity to examine transactions by year.
