The Generative AI Model of the South Korean corporation is named after mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss, who developed the Normal Distribution Theory (Gaussian), which is regarded as the foundation of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) technologies.

Samsung Gauss is Samsung Research’s ultimate concept for Generative AI. Samsung Gauss is now being utilised internally by the company’s employees, but it will soon be available to the general public through future products. Samsung Gauss consists of three components: Samsung Gauss Language, Samsung Gauss Code, and Samsung Gauss Image.

Products based on these Generative AI models are scheduled to be released in the next months, and features based on these Generative AI models are expected to be accessible on the Galaxy S24 series, which is expected to be released in January 2024.

Samsung Gauss Language is a model that recognises and responds to human language. It can boost productivity by assisting with tasks such as email composition, document editing and summarization, language translation, and writing. It can also be utilised to provide smarter device controls when applied to items. It is compatible with cloud servers as well as endpoint devices (phones, tablets, and PCs).

Samsung Gauss can operate on-device to protect private data and could debut with the Galaxy S24

Samsung Gauss coding is a coding language-specific model. It has a code assistant named ‘code.i’ that Samsung will employ internally. Through an interactive interface, it is utilised for quick and easy programme development. It allows for the description of code and the creation of test cases.

To secure private information, all of Samsung’s Generative AI models can be executed in on-device mode. The corporation has formed an AI Red Team that is guided by AI ethics guidelines. It examines privacy and security issues internally throughout the AI process, from data collecting to result generation.
