WhatsApp introduces a new interface that is similar to Instagram. When the sharing channel changes to Status, the WhatsApp beta for Android (v.18.104.22.168) upgrade introduces a new UI. The functionality is only available to some beta testers for now, but it will be made available to more people in the following weeks.
WhatsApp introduces a new interface that is similar to Instagram
Those who have gotten the v.22.214.171.124 update, as seen above, may explore a new interface that improves the way users perceive a channel update from a status update. WhatsApp will introduce a dedicated layout for the channel update, with the goal of making it clear that the content shared on Status comes from a channel.
Those who wish to test it out and see if this capability is already available on their accounts can do so by sharing a channel update to their status (the easiest way to do this is by forwarding a channel update). It’s also worth noting that WhatsApp has just included another entry point within the status subtitle, allowing users to quickly browse and view the related channel’s content.
According to the WhatsApp analysts at WABetaInfo, the redesigned UI has an intuitive style that “makes it easier for users to interact and access shared channel updates.” They also mention that this interface is in line with current design trends, stating that “it’s very similar to the layout offered by Instagram when sharing posts as Instagram Stories.”
