Apple provides various improvements in iOS 15 and later to make video conferencing with FaceTime and other video calling apps more appealing on iPhone.
One of these improvements, called Voice Isolation, makes it easier for people to hear your voice during a video conversation, and it also works for conventional phone calls on devices running iOS 16.4 or later.
When you’re on a call, your device’s microphone typically picks up a wide range of sounds in the area; however, with Voice Isolation, machine learning separates these sounds, shuts out any ambient noise, and prioritises your voice so that it comes through clearly.
How to Improve Your Voice Clarity During iPhone Calls?
The methods below demonstrate how to enable voice isolation during a conventional phone call on the iPhone 15, 14, 13, 11, XR, iPhone XS, and subsequent iPhone models.
- Start a standard audio phone call with someone by opening the Phone app.
- Pull down the Control Centre by pulling down diagonally from the top-right corner of the screen once you’re on the call.
- At the top, press the Mic Mode button.
- Choose Voice Isolation from the menu.
Voice Isolation will now be enabled, and you can deactivate it at any moment by returning to the Control Centre and selecting Standard. When Apple announced Voice Isolation for FaceTime, it also debuted Wide Spectrum, a capability that the firm claims can pick up “an entire symphony of sound – your voice and everything around you.”
Essentially, this mode incorporates every sound into your call, making it great for times when you want the other person to hear everything that’s going on in the room. Wide Spectrum isn’t yet accessible for conventional phone calls, although Apple may add it to the Phone app in the future.
