High blood pressure can now be tracked with just one selfie, a report says. Canadian and Chinese researchers have developed a new way of testing blood through a selfie. A University of Toronto and Hangzhou Normal University Hospital team recently released their research showing how a user’s blood pressure could be monitored with a brief video.

Kang Lee is the lead author of the published paper at the University of Toronto’s Development Psychologist. According to Lee, this invention uses a technology called transdermal optical imagery.
The light emitted by smartphones is used to define the skin’s bouncing proteins. Then the team will use the machine learning algorithms, which will then translate these readings in order to understand a patient’s blood pressure. 95% Accurate measurements were taken.
Over 1,300 participants were tested, most of whom were from Europe and the Middle East. This raises the concern that the proof-of-concept might give the people belonging to a different color race an inaccurate result.

When testing the light-colored skins, light measurements were studied, after proteins bounce off like hemoglobin. However, whether it will be possible to identify Protein on dark skin tones is still unclear.
Before claiming the high accuracy of its results, the same test should be tried on different skin types and colors. Lee also agreed to expand their experiment on other skin tones.
